At Plaza Family Dental in Peoria, AZ, we understand that dental emergencies can occur at any time. That’s why we offer emergency dental services to our patients, helping them preserve and protect their smiles.
What benefits are associated with receiving emergency dental care?
Emergency dental care can provide patients with immediate relief from dental pain, swelling, and bleeding. It can also prevent further damage to their teeth and gums. Delaying treatment for a dental emergency can lead to more serious complications, such as infection, tooth loss, and even systemic health issues.
What are some common dental emergencies, and how should I care for my smile until I receive care?
Common dental emergencies include toothaches, broken or knocked-out teeth, and cracked or chipped teeth. Other emergencies can include severe gum swelling or bleeding, lost dental restorations, and injuries to the mouth or jaw.
If you experience a dental emergency, the first thing you should do is call us! We will do our best to see you as soon as possible. In the meantime, there are some steps you can take to manage the emergency until you’re in our care:
If you have a toothache, rinse your mouth with warm water and use dental floss to remove any food particles that may be causing the pain. Avoid placing aspirin directly on the tooth or gums if the pain persists, as it can cause burns.
If you have a knocked-out tooth, carefully pick it up by the crown, rinse it with water, and try to place it back in the socket. If you cannot do so, place the tooth in a cup of milk or saliva and bring it with you to our office.
If you have a cracked or chipped tooth, rinse your mouth with warm water and use a cold compress on your face to reduce swelling.
In any dental emergency, it’s important to remain calm and seek professional help immediately.
At Plaza Family Dental, we are committed to providing compassionate and efficient emergency dental services to our patients. Don’t hesitate to contact us if you’re experiencing a dental emergency!
